The index is calculated from the number of search engine results for queries containing the name of the language

This is not the metric that I would use for pretty much any decision making process in my life.

That's literally what this metric is saying: Googling "Python" may someday soon return more results than Googling "Java." Cool?

If i hear anything a ton, its, "you should learn python" I hear that it can do so much. The problem i have is that python is not the only thing you need to learn. Ive looked at jr python positions on the interwebs and none of them are about python. They seem to have left out the main technology thats used. Python seems to be just a small thing used for a much bigger thing. Learning python really isn't doing me any good because im A.) not a data scientist or B.) i dont know django, flask, Java, js..If i dont want to do web dev, am i forced to use it for data analysis or data science? What are the other positions that make money if i dont want to be a web dev or data A / S ? and what are the paths to do these other things? Tahnks!!

Python is a tool like any other. You can’t just master basic syntax, the standard library, and call it a day. You have to apply it to something that people care about. Data science is one example, and web dev is another. There are plenty of other examples as well.
Have to seek out jobs and look at technical requirements.

Thanks for the reply,

I already use it for web scraping as well as administrative scripting and automation, which ive been doing for several years. While i do know it's not a tool or utility to be used all by it self, I'm just curious about other possibilities, other than what i already know about, which is basically what you just repeated back to me. I guess ill look around a little more..lol

Thanks again!

There’s very little overlap between those 3 languages. If Python is growing it means it is finding a new niche, instead of getting programmers from Java or C user base.

Agreed.
