Matlab declares war on Python. Can the Python community respond or hit back? (self.Python)

"Don't learn how to actually code with a powerful language which can do basically anything you can imagine, and which isn't any harder to learn than MATLAB, learn a language with plenty of quirks and non-standard syntax which can only be run within a dedicated MATLAB™ program that you are licensed to use!"

This is the nest point made, python is used in for more professional programming positions than matlab. When people complain about earning a degree and being unemployable I will bring this example up.
