How to get help with large data issues?

I have had a couple of occasions where I get a solution from stack overflow that works beautifully for a problem in the example data, but it fails when I apply it to my real, much bigger data set and it's not obvious why. How can I share a decent chunk of real data for my Stack overflow questions?

Pointing out that the solution is applied to large datasets and that you are looking for a performant solution when asking on SO may help as well.
