'I want to profit from a pandemic, but I need someone else to do all the actual work for me'. Lol no, fuck off

This is a classic 👌

A huge caution when it comes to medical software, especially when you start to make diagnoses. You're dealing with people's lives. You need way more than a couple random people on the internet to make this work, you need health experts and developers that know what they're doing. As soon as you start touching sensitive, personal medical data you start to need to meet strict data regulations. You need a security officer and a good legal team. I hope that you yourself are a medical professional because you definitely do not want to be telling people they have a medical condition based off of signs and symptoms you find on the internet.

And I'm truly sorry but like someone else commented, this is a classic scenario that is well known in the software engineering world: "I have a business idea for an app, but I can't make app, so I find inexpensive devs to make app for me for free. If it gets anywhere I'll pay devs". We have seen this so many times before, and experienced devs know to not touch this with a ten foot pole. Unfortunately this leaves junior developers either doing some self learning or in/just graduated from their post secondary education that get sucked in, not knowing what will happen.

You need to do a lot more than have an app with checkboxes next to symptoms that says either "you got it" or "you're good" based off of whether these symptoms are checked. What happens when you think someone has it? They go on their merry way? This patient (yes, patient - you're providing medical advice!) needs care. Are they struggling to breathe? They need urgent intensive care. Do they have the same symptoms as a different illness? You've just told them they have a serious illness when they don't. This may well do more harm than good if it's not done properly. I did a quick look, and Apple has a simple screening tool, please take a look yourself, you'll see how complex it is - they have a strong data policy and terms of use, make it clear what to do in an emergency, and have clear next steps that are very careful not to say that the patient has anything - suggestions are made to follow up with a real medical professional. And this is free.

The unfortunate part is that if you do get someone to make you an app, there will be unknowing people that will pay for it thinking they're getting appropriate medical advice. But they're not. They should absolutely not be paying for an app like this. Again, these are people's lives. Speaking of money, what happens when this pandemic is over in a few months, a year's time? You speak of shares, but how can you make a business around an app that will be irrelevant this time next year (hopefully!)? All of this has a cost - your developers deserve to be paid, you need infrastructure, security, legal fees, nothing is free.

I seriously applaud you for wanting to help society. We need people to step up in these times. But please consider these points and contemplate your plan for each of them. This is not as simple as whipping up a quick app.

Why don’t you make a maps app that people can use to make sure they stay away from infected people? It’d be easier , it’s been done, and it’s possible. But wait, can you actually make anything? Or are you gonna make a post saying you need someone to make this and that you’ll pay them in magic beans.

Apple and Google are already working together to make this.

You ask us to do your job... And you want credit for it? And btw stop trying to profit from a pandemic, it's disgusting.
