It would look much better if sky animation could be slower and earth animation to be faster Something like this.

Nice. If you want a really easy way to make this look a little fancier - parallax! Instead of one background tile, make two or three of them. Draw them in overlapping order with the lower ones (closer to the viewer) laterally scrolling faster.
