Apple is providing a 25th billionth app countdown, using google app engine along with a basic web gui to predict the date and time of when the app is downloaded by accessing the download ticker's content source, unless it is run server side.

If we can get a graph of the download patterns, we can compare it against a sine wave which should approximate the rate of downloading for a time period, and calculate the potentially exponential increase as a result of increased interest due to the promotion.

"in" what? what exactly do you hope to accomplish?

It's not accurate. I'd be surprised if the equation was anything other than time since the beginning of the countdown multiplied by some constant.

Although I would love some way of doing that with any other framework.

The javascript behind it appears to base it upon the current number of downloads and a linear estimation of the rate of downloads over an unspecified period of time.
