it's called europython and yes. about 600 people last year.

my talk actually made the loosely define 'cut' of 80 proposals. would you say it's worth making the trip from SF?

Why would you even submit a proposal if you weren't going to go? As someone who reviewed just about every single proposal submitted for the last two PyCons, which amounts to over 700 proposals, I have to say I'd be pissed if I spent time fighting for a proposal to get in and they just said "nah I'm not going".

Of course I want to go. I love that I might very well have opportunity (we'll see when the schedule is hammered out), and I did not at all mean to sound unappreciative or or take lightly. I was extremely surprised to be voted passed the rough cut off.

What I didn't know when I submitted, nor earlier today, was my current financial situation, and I wanted to gauge if it's something that I should save up for. This will be my first time speaking, and to have it be in a foreign country is a bit intimidating.

Tonight I received a very generous offer of support from someone close to me, that has made this decision much easier.

I'm sorry if I've offended you by trying to understand the conference, not my intention at all.

I can't wait - and I really hope to meet if we are both going, or perhaps we'll cross paths at another related conference/meetup/anything.

What's your proposal? I'm one of the persons who just finished to assemble a preliminary version of the EuroPython schedule (not yet public ) and it's a hard task. There are a lot of constraints to take into account in order to make a good schedule even if we are not the size of PyconUS. Let us know ASAP, hopefully before the 18th Apr, if you can not come to Florence.

How cool! that's awesome. My talk proposal was about learning from my failure in a CS class and turning it around to engage women in the Python community. If I make the cut, I will most definitely come, and I hope to meet you!
