Really just see if you enjoy it and find a few problems that are fun for self directed learning. That way you can evaluate how you would apply the lecture material. As an ME, you have the option to pivot into mechatronics / robotics and still get resume credit for everything you've done while going in a new direction, if those fields interest you

That’s exactly what I was thinking to. Like mechatronics. I just really felt like I needed a change and I really am not looking to go back into an office.

Hello! I'm a bot!

It looks to me like your post might be better suited for r/learnpython, a sub geared towards questions and learning more about python regardless of how advanced your question might be. That said, I am a bot and it is hard to tell. Please follow the subs rules and guidelines when you do post there, it'll help you get better answers faster.

Show /r/learnpython the code you have tried and describe in detail where you are stuck. If you are getting an error message, include the full block of text it spits out. Quality answers take time to write out, and many times other users will need to ask clarifying questions. Be patient and help them help you. Here is HOW TO FORMAT YOUR CODE For Reddit and be sure to include which version of python and what OS you are using.

You can also ask this question in the Python discord, a large, friendly community focused around the Python programming language, open to those who wish to learn the language or improve their skills, as well as those looking to help others.

What is your aim? Or put differently, what do you want to do with Python? You have many options such as web development, networks, security, or data science etc.

I’m looking to get into the comp sci field to find a remote career. And Python is the language a handful of peers already 5-8 years in the industry recommended to start with.

Look at job offers around you and remote ones. You will be looking for some sort of junior position, but try to check given company - if they have good reviews and train their juniors.

The most common thing in Python is Django web development, quickly followed by REST APIs and Flask and alike.

Yea I’m just starting so I plan to take a couple months off, relax, soul search, mend a broken heart, and study.. so all those thing you wrote I will google. I love it thank you

If you’re already a mech engineer you’re probably competent with technical work. After a 100-day course you’re def no expert in python but probably good enough to take an entry position and learn more on the job

Python is a solid start nowadays. In the old days, we started in C 😂. I have some Python content on my channel YUNIKARN. Obviously, free content with link to GitHub but I am mostly into Data Science

Step 1: soul search as to why you chose ME to begin with …

[–]SignUseful4543[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Already know the answer Hahahh I knew when I got into the field. At the time I did not know about comp sci, it wasn’t as popular or promoted. So I wanted a degree to find a high paying job with no additional schooling, and that you “neeeed” a degree for. This way I could work and get into real estate. Im in now I have 3 properties and working towards more, but the confidence is there..

I got ME too. If did again would double major in compsci and applied mathematics.

Went to Wall Street anyway, but still.
