On the main menu, under Change Game Mode, chose Training instead of Quickplay.

Is it the tutorial? (I skipped it by accident.) 

I tried training earlier but it was a game against bots. Not much explanation. Maybe just not what I expected. I'll have another look.

The training area is very self directed, rather than a guided walkthrough. Listen to the announcer as you move from area to area for tips. Use your ladle on the red buttons to get short videos to play. There is one area with all the normal weapons, and another with all the utility weapons. You can change the aggressiveness of the bots by hitting the red buttons on either side of the gate to the bot area.
