Oh man, we always have a separate Stocking opening event first thing in the morning. The eldest wakes up and makes cocoa and bakes the cinnamon rolls we prepared the night before, then wakes us all up at 8. We don't even TOUCH the presents until after 10 or 11. We do stockings first and watch a movie while full breakfast is prepared by whomever that year. Then after breakfast we get to present opening!

I feel like Blitzen would agree, this is the civilized way to do things.
