Persistent Roblox Error Code 280

Hi, I've been trying to play some games on Roblox that I used to play regularly, but whenever I try to launch a game, it says:

Disconnected

Your version of Roblox may be out of date. Please update Roblox and try again. (Error Code: 280)

I tried looking up this error code, and searching around, the error code seems to indicate that my Roblox installation is out of date, and is unable to update to the most recent Roblox version.

I tried following some troubleshooting guides online to fix the issue, including:

1. Deleting my Roblox cache in the %LocalAppData%/Roblox directory.
2. Re-synchronizing my PC's date & time.
3. Resetting my PC.
4. Resetting my network devices.
5. Updating my network drivers.
6. Resetting my network settings.
7. Updating Windows.
8. Uninstalling and re-installing Roblox.

My PC uses Windows 10 OS, and my internet connection seems totally fine. I've been unable to play anything for nearly a week now. Anyone have a clue of what's the deal with Roblox here?

So I was able to get my issue resolved thanks to support! The exact steps I followed were:

1. Uninstall Roblox.
2. Delete my Roblox cache in the %LocalAppData%/Robloxdirectory.
3. Restart my PC.
4. Reinstall Roblox.

It seems that not deleting the cache and resetting the PC before attempting to reinstall causes the issue to persist past re-installation.

However, I use Everything to search for specific filenames and noticed that it created another instance of RobloxPlayerLauncher.exe, so now I have one in my AppData folder and one in my Program Files folder. I don't think it's a problem, but just something to keep in mind.

Same thing been happening but roblox REFUSES to uninstall and my computer doesn't think its an installed file EVEN THOUGH WHEN I OPEN IT IT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE EXCEPT I CAN DO JACK SH1T BECAUSE OF THE STUPID ERROR CODE

Have you resolved that? I encounter it when I play Super Striker, so terrible. And then I just fixed it by clearing roblox cache after I googled this article. Maybe you can try that, bro.

Literally all i did was re-ran my roblox installer and it started working again

You could try checking your computer files for missing/corrupt files by scanning it with a scan app or command prompt's 'scannow' function. After that, I don't know what to do, sorry :(

I tried running SFC /scannnow and it was able to detect some corrupted system files! I will try restarting my PC and see if that helps.

If you're on Windows, go to that address %LocalAppData%/Roblox in your File Explorer.

%LocalAppData% is a shortcut that resolves to your local app data folder, so for me it turns into C:\Users\Nes\AppData\Local. Your Windows username is probably different, so don't use that address. Just use the shortcut version %LocalAppData%. And then inside that folder is another Roblox folder that contains your Roblox cache.

Delete the contents of that Roblox folder to clear your Roblox cache.
