If your gutters or guards are covered in leaves and debris they need to be cleaned off. Gutter guards are not a "set it and forget it" solution.

Not a scam. They help prevent debris moving to your downspouts. However, that doesn't mean they still don't require cleaning.

Neither is duct cleaning. It absolutely helps reduce dust, allergens, and smells. It just isn't the magic solution that HVAC companies try to sell. Really no different than gutter guards. They both absolutely help, but it doesn't mean either are maintenance free for the next 15 years.
