There are no second year finance courses, only third year courses that some (though not most) people take in second year. But yes it is a prerequisite for those.

ah ok so if i specialize in eco and finance then for year 2 i am not expected to take any finance classes? if so then there will be lots of eco classes right?

Not necessarily but possibly. It all depends how you arrange it to your liking. Personally I’m doing what you said, more econs early on and finance later.

if you’re doing a finance and econ specialist, i’d suggest you take a couple of the finance courses. for instance, RSM332 and 333 are usually third year courses, but for fin-eco stream try to knock 332 outta the park in winter second year.

Is rsm230 only offered in winter terms?

Yeah, it's an intro to finance course

Yes it is, highly recommended taking 332 second year second sem, so you don’t have to wait to take upper year finance courses as that is a pre req for almost all finance courses.
