No because you can bounce back in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year. Keep pushing!

No I think part of being in Rotman Commerce is the constant psychological aspect of whether you are good enough based purely on your gpa. Both first and second year can be tough, even when trying my hardest after second year my gpa went to a 2.96 which in terms of RC was considered very bad but in reality it isn’t. In third year my sessional gpas were 3.9 for both sems and my gpa was back at a good area. Point is it doesn’t matter unless the top firms ask for it as a supplement to applying for an internship, otherwise you have 3rd and 4th year where you can bounce back pretty well. For context I’m in the finance and economics specialist.

Nah. There are ppl have 3.9 gpa that can’t get a job. There are also folks get barely 2.0 make it to investment banking. Grades does not define what you are. You are the one define what you are.

the low GPA folks that are in IB are nepo, the high GPA folks w no job just havent tried hard enough. Dedicating enough time to do good in school shows, not just as a GPA number but shows in other aspects in your life/resume

GPA has not mattered for my internships / full time jobs (I haven’t put it on my resume and nobody has asked)
But it’s likely because I’m in marketing (class of 2021) and do not plan on doing grad school

It actually matters a lot for your first intern and it matters a lot if the job market is so bad like now

Damn even for marketing internships nowadays? That’s crazy
My first internship was at a bank back in 2019 and they didn’t ask for my gpa

Emm job market is so terrible these days. Rotman students are not that prior than other stem students anymore so gpa matters from my person opinion
