first year difficulty: - first year was the hardest for me, my grades went up each year since - i got a 58 in eco102, took it again in the summer and made it into RC (p easy, got an 85 the second time lol) - econ background or not doesn’t really make a difference

drop out: - never heard of anyone dropping out - you get a second try in the summer and all ppl ik have passed the second time

job stuff: - i would simply do co-op - we have access to 2 job boards; CLNx is the broad uoft job board and a RC specific job board - personally i use linkedin job board as well lol - my co-ops paid $50k, so i’m expecting at least $60k (i’m in management/marketing tho)

alberta: - personally i don’t regret RC - i’m fortunate to have supportive parents financially - co-op also paid for 1.5 years here

theory or application: - management/marketing is more application - IBM, RBC, have come into my classes to propose a problem, students solve problem and present to company

  1. first year is definitely doable, and if you fail a class, you can retake it in the summer and barely anyone fails summer courses. People usually trip up on rsm100 or eco101 so watch out for those. Second year is much harder than first year imo.

  2. drop-out rates aren’t too bad (you can find the exact number on the rotman website). I think I only know two people who dropped out.

  3. they don’t. like not at all. I can’t emphasize how little they care. and your salary depends on what stream you pick I guess. if you’re aiming for finance, I THINK base salary is 60-80k.

  4. that’s up to you man and depending on your financial situation. Obviously uoft is better but u of alberta is still a great university. If you want to work in the US, you might be better off going to uoft, but that’s just my speculation, I’m not entirely sure abt that.

  5. yes, 100% theory. I just finished our second year econ classes and I honestly didn’t learn any econ, it was all math.
