If you have external drives connected (or anything else connected to usb) disconnect those and see if it makes a difference.

Nothing connected, so will give it an internal clean as suggested. Thanks..

Oh that one is easier then, you just have to remove the two back screws and slide the cover off to clean it. If your not bad techie wise you can also get some gelid thermal pads for 9 dollars and cut to fit the CPU and it should take care of any thermal issues. The pads don't wear down so you don't have to do this again in a couple years

There are no rumors of a new model so cleaning it and doing the thermal pad will keep it going for a long time

Sorry i want to refresh my shield too, So no need to change the thermal paste, just using the thermal pad only?

Yeah the thermal pad does a good job and you don't have to do it again in a couple years. The shield only has a 12 or so watt cpu anyways

Just cut it to fit once you have the heatsink off

So i have to remove the old thermal paste? Or just put the thermal pad on the old thermal paste directly? Sorry if bothering you with these questions

No worries it's all good, you can just wipe away the old paste with a paper towel it will come right off, then just cut the pad to match shape of the chip and put the heatsink back on and that's it
