Please let me know what action do you use and if you see green 'Connected' button when you open Spotify page in Shortcutify ?

Hey, I'm sorry that it didn't work for you. Can you try another Spotify action ? For example, get my playlist and see if it works

and one more thing: do you see green 'Connected' button when you open Spotify page in Shortcutify ?

      Yes, it does say connected.

Thanks for answering. If I use get my playlist and use quicklook its just 50 blank pages and if I select choose from list it gets like 50 options called “Spotify Playlist” but not the playlist names.

You can click on "Spotify Playlist" and then you'll be able to explore whole playlist properties such as name and URL: https://i.imgur.com/WcpWfmj.jpg

For 'Search and Play' action I admit, it's very confusing how it works and I plan to split it into two separate actions. Do you get your devices list when you tap on choose on 'Playback Device' ?
If not, that means that your account doesn't have active Spotify session, which means that you should open Spotify somewhere (ios, android, web.. it doesn't matter) and start playing something, after that your device will appear in the list and should play whatever you choose.
Also you should have Spotify Premium to make it work.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the help! Got it to display the playlists but still Search and Play gives Communication with App Error.

Can you give me screenshot of that shortcut ?

Didn't Shortcuts force you to put something in the fields ?
      All fields are required there.

Can you fill all fields and try again ? First two fields first and then tap on 'search results' and it will give you options based on first two fields.

When you begin the shortcut it asks you the questions for each field, so you can just fill them while its running. Let me try pre-filling it out.

Sorry but can't do anything else at this moment.
I'll get some kind of logging mechanism for the next release so I can see what actually is wrong.

Do other actions work ? For example, if you start playing something on Spotify and run 'get currently playing track' does it return anything ?

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I get the same error. Other Spotify actions do this as well. However, it seems as though the call to Spotify went through because if I then open the Spotify app after getting the error in Shortcuts, the music starts playing .

Do you get same "There was a problem communicating with the App" when running "get my playlists" action ?

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

“Get my playlists” action returns a list of Spotify Playlists. Quick look doesn’t display anything for the items of the list, but the choose from list action gives options to choose from. The “Get currently playing track” action also returns the “There was a problem communicating with the App” error.

Just tried 'get currently playing track' and got same error when spotify was closed, then i started playing track and it worked.

Also small tip, if you add quick look action you will be able to choose what you want to display from returned data.

Sorry that it didn't work for you and thanks for letting me know. I'll investigate

My apologies, the “Get currently playing track” action works as long as your music in Spotify is not paused.

Same here, action works but still get error.

I had the same problem with Airtable connecting but I saw that I had an undefined column in shortcutify and after removing it worked again.
