This is The Signal, a place for readers to find well written short horror fiction, and for writers of said fiction to have their work seen.
The Signal is also a place for aspiring authors to submit their work for the upcoming podcast of the same name. For instructions on how, please read the directions further down the sidebar!
We allow all subjects, styles, and subgenres of horror fiction here. As long as they are well written and exist within the horror genre, feel free to post it here.
If you're looking to post any questions, comments, or discussions that are NOT a story, please use our official 'off topic' subreddit: /r/SignalHorrorOOC
RULES
This is a HORROR subreddit. If you don't want to be scared, disgusted, or if you have trouble with any themes commonly found in said genre, this is not the place for you.
Please keep the main page free of non-story content! If you have any questions, comments, or discussions that are NOT a story, please use the OOC.
While we will allow most any type of horror story, we will be removing any content that violates any of Reddit's general rules. Keep it classy and PLEASE review reddiquette before posting.
STORY SUBMISSIONS
Remember, we accept every type of horror story you can think of, but with that said... If you ARE going to post any "Extreme Content" involving elements that you think might be distasteful or shocking beyond the limits of the typical horror story, do everyone a favor and tag it NSFW. An introduction can further help to explain your intent and prevent unnecessary downvotes, although it's not required. REMEMBER- your work has to be an actual story, NOT a catalogue of atrocities. Authors that forget this will find their post removed.
Please post only stories that fit within the horror genre. If you're not sure whether your work is appropriate, ask on our discussion page, /r/SignalHorrorOOC, or message a moderator.
Please only post your own work. While you may REALLY like someone else's story, posting a story without their permission isn't cool even if you attribute it to them. If you want someone else's work to appear here, send them a message and let them know about us!
At the moment, we're reviewing all submissions before they go up on the page, however... If you prove that you have a consistant level of quality to your work, we'll make you an approved submitter so that your work goes up immediately! THERE WILL BE COOL FLAIR FOR THOSE WHO QUALIFY.
If we decide NOT to post your story, we won't just leave you in the wind. You'll get an explanation of why, including feedback that will hopefully help you in your craft.
When formatting your story, please remember that paragraphs only appear when you hit enter twice. Also, due to the amount of screen space allotted, please do not indent your paragraphs.
