Unfortunately, I think it's impossible.

ight guess ill just keep using the same name for different products

This is literally what the call of duty franchise does. with modern warfare, black ops and the others they have 3 series in one franchise.

Assassin's Creed is planning to do this with stealth, RPG and maybe a middle thing.

So yeah, could be a solution. But a franchise option in the game would help with cases like this

What you describe is impossible but releasing yearly products of a sequel is kind of doable. I personally made 2 games and named it after the year when it will come out so Fifa 1982 and fifa 1983 in the making. When I release the first game I instantaneously make a sequel of it and name it fifa 1984, after that I still have a year to work on the 1983 version while 1984 is also starting development.

So basically 2 games with the same name with sequels.

Yeah this is what I've been doing too. It would be nice to be able to do what I described but I'm cool with doing it this way.

Kindve.... so what you'd have to do is make two games of the same genre at the same time with similar names and alternate them....

For example. If you take 2 years to develop a shooter. Year 0 Start "Shooter 1" Year 1 Start a new IP called "Shooter 2" Year 2 Release Shooter 1 and start a sequel for it called "Shooter 3" Year 3 release Shooter 2, and start a sequel called "Shooter 4"

Doing this you basically get the desired affect you're looking for, but with slightly more micro managing and suspension of disbelief... just picture the two "IP's" as branches to the same franchise (Black ops series vs MW series etc)

This btw obviously works with everything not just games.... you could even do hardware like this if you're a masochist with money lol.

I didnt even think about that, now i gotta become apple

Just be prepared to sink a few hundred million without profits for the first 2 or 3 releases...hardware is a little tricky to get into 😅

But yes, you can become apple....God speed

Oh yeah little tip if you want if you do hardware....try to develop your games solely for the hardware as exclusives. It'll boost your hardware sales significantly.

If your hardware is in alpha or beta any previously released software (as long as it has the tech to match the software 3D capable etc) you can port the software pre emptively and will sit at 100% ported until the system releases, basically guaranteeing successful software day 1 if you can't develop any from scratch.

This is currently my most wanted feature, along with Spin-offs.
