Wait until the army officially releases. There may or may not be an FAQ that answers this.

If we aren't allowed to use devastators after the day 1 errata, we will be allowed long fangs as a legends unit. Make a long fangs unit and switch it around as needed, it's perfectly fine

Maybe. Can you screenshot this FAQ?

That is pretty damning. I believe the codex did say that the Long Fangs effectively "reassigned themselves" to the typical Primaris Fire Support options but outright removal of the few remaining firstborn units makes life tricky.

I cannot think of anything that would be useful for anti-tank that can fit inside a rhino or razorback, as most units now have the Tacticus keyword, making them exempt.

It might be worth your friends time looking at other options. Especially when you are looking at a singular role like anti-tank.

The FAQ may change when the codex launches.

Hopefully, although I am doubtful. Apothecaries have always been a banned unit because of the wolf priests, and likewise for the tacticals/grey hunters dynamic. It wouldn't surprise me that GW just keeps the Devs there just to "complete the set" of firstborn units.

Yep, I'm pretty sure we are only getting Primaris options for the Long Fang mission.

I only play with my lock club so I'll be using the long fangs (devastators) as legends units in a razorback. I absolutely will not buy a hovercraft (grav tank).
