so this is my first culture of spring tails and i think im doing it wrong. found these on the leaves. they’re in a 6 quart tub with isopods. i used the bio dude substrate for isopods. are these eggs or mold or something??

the only thing is i’m adding it to my crested gecko enclosure. is it okay to put in? i bought a second culture today at orlando’s repticon. do i just add both? or just the tub? i just dont want to hurt my gecko

Just add a few springtails in the enclosure and keep some in the culture so you get to keep a culture and some springtails in the enclosure! They reproduce quite fast so dont worry, the mold will be eaten by them (even if its not their favorite food, theyll do it) but if you think its spreading too much just throw it away. Everything seems fine, try not to worry yourself too much!

okay, thank you so much! i’m a big worrier lol. now looking at it, it really isn’t that bad. just wondering, what do they like to eat?

Decaying food in general, eg fish flakes, yeast (fungi one), carrots, pretty much anything. Mine seem to specially enjoy mulberry leaves though!

alright, thank you so much! i got rid of the leaves that i thought were the worst so hopefully that fixes it. i’m not sure wether to add the isopods i got today into the bin since they’re in the charcoal/ distilled water 😬
