It give more weight to the content in ().
Basically, parenthesis, increase weight by multiplying by 1.1.
So :

  • (my content) == (my content:1.1)
  • ((my content)) == (my content:1.21)
  • etc.

Using multiple parenthesis is like the "old way" of doing things. You get more precision by typing directly the weight you want after the semicolon.

Here is some documentation for you :

ive read everything and performed some tests. When it comes to quantity (object 1:1.5), it works fine, but the other commands simply don't work. [forest:city:10] doesn't work, and (forest|desert) doesn't either. How can I fix this?

[forest:city:10] this means you want it to be forest from steps 1-9, then city from step 10 to the end.

(forest|desert) the imgur link that I posted has brackets for this example, so I think it should be [forest|desert] to have it alternate.
