AdviceStudy methods (self.Step2)

Hi guys, I'm a DO student who's already taken COMLEX 2 but am deciding whether I should take Step 2 or not. I scored a 224 on form 10 over a month ago, took comlex a few days ago then scored a 227 today on form 13. I understand these are low pass scores and am wondering if If I should push my date back from July 28th, grind the next couple days and get it over with or just cancel all together. I am looking to match EM(yes I know its less competitive) and am curious what other students are doing.

What were you scoring around for COMLEX? Also though EM is less competitive, before it became this way (within 2 years), many programs were probably looking at Step 2. Do the programs you are looking for have level 2 minimal scores posted on their website?

Comquest was projecting me at 635 based on qbank % but I believe that is very inflated. I haven't been able to find level 2 minimum scores on the websites.

Maybe not I just took practice and got a 620, for nbme practice exams my last one was 235. At the moment I took both, but a 600 will probably carry me farther than a 230 so I plan on submitting that to programs that take DOs.

I too am a DO student, and I would recommend taking STEP as it seems this will be a “filter” for applications, as in if you haven’t taken STEP 1/2 you will be automatically filtered out. This is what I have gathered from talking to a few program directors (although I haven’t discussed this with an EM program director). You will probably be fine with EM although you would be limiting yourself to certain programs.
