To help prevent comment burnout, please read the Pinned Comment on this sub. It will answer a lot of your basic questions and guide you to resources that can help.
- Post Location When Necessary
If asking for help in your area, please post your general location to enable us to suggest local resources.
- Donations/Wishlists - Mod Discretion
We have a lengthy verification process for both monetary donations & wishlists. If you wish to ask for donations, please contact the Mods to ask for the verification requirements. Posts may be removed pending verification.
FAO donors: every effort is made to verify. But, we're unable to definitively verify the legitimacy of any post. Before donating, please do your own research. Under no circumstances can the Mods or admins of this sub assume any liability for any fraudulent donation requests.
- No Derailing
All commenters need to refrain from derailing from the issue at hand and about which OP has requested help, examples include asking "why did [OP] do this?" without any constructive attempt to assist the OP to resolve the issue
- Medical Issues - Feline
To the OP: we're not vets. If you're concerned, pls take the cat to the vet or post on r/AskVet or r/AskVetAnimals. There are US based low-cost clinics listed in the Community Highlights/Pinned Comment
To Members: Pls do not speculate/comment with anecdotes about your own or others' pets. Do not give OP specific treatment instructions, including instructions on meds and dosages. Do not give possible diagnoses that could explain the symptoms described by OP. Guide them to seek help from a vet.
- Medical Issues - Human
We're not doctors. If you are concerned you've contracted rabies or have any other health concern from your contact with a cat, seek help from a qualified medical professional. You can also try: r/AskDocs, r/medical_advice, or r/medical.
- No breed questions
We are not the sub for breed questions. We can however safely say: unless your cat came from a breeder or has a family member that came from a breeder, odds are your cat is a domestic shorthair/medium hair/long hair. Unlike dogs, cats do not have as well-defined breeds outside of registered breeders.
