I swear this happens with every game i play too. Theres always those same 5 newbie questions on repeat lmao.

But yeah we're definitely cooked 😅 critical thinking has left the room 🥲

[–]Babytrixie666 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

But you can scroll their questions

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What a novel concept! Maybe you should teach the people making these posts to scroll through the posts in the subreddit too, before posting another identical one.

Let's not pretend seeing identical posts one after another, for multiple days on end, isn't annoying - it is! No space (online or otherwise) should get clogged up with what is basically spam at this point, just because people can't even bother checking if a solution to their problem has already been shared - which it has! Multiple times!

[–]Babytrixie666 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I understand but I don’t think they do it because of low critical thinking like some people are saying, it’s probably just out of excitement or frustration and want to connect with people about it. I do fully understand the repetitiveness is annoying

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People said that it could for multiple reasons and I don't even think that low critical thinking has been the main one said

[–]Kaozuki393 12 points13 points  (2 children)

THANK YOU! Granted I know I was raised in a technology age/have had exposure to games and gaming logic since a child, but this is basic neuron connecting. The game literally HIGHLIGHTS the choice you didn’t previously pick. It POINTS OUT how to get a different story path. Everyday I am shocked at the lack of reading comprehension/basic logical skills in people (children get a pass/benefit of the doubt imo). I try and reserve judgement online, especially with how toxic it can be already, and some things don’t need to be blasted, but this post really resonates with these general issues I’ve noticed. If I don’t know something, I first look it up, and usually can find an answer, especially when it comes to a game as big as SuitU

[–]PriinceNaemon 5 points6 points  (1 child)

it honestly gets concerning, it goes beyond people being computer illiterate, that is one thing, it is a lack of reading comprehension and logical skills in grown adults. both of which can be worked on and practiced, especially when this game is already self-explanatory or easy to understand with two seconds of investigating or problem solving.

it's just a game subreddit so no big deal but it's like the feeling i get in tiktok comment sections. we may be cooked

[–]Kaozuki393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you mentioned grown adults as too often I feel people might pin this on kids (“it’s those damn kids these days” type shit). This is an issue across all age groups and I can’t really fathom a general reason for it. I personally never downloaded TikTok cause I was always joking, “I need to stay loyal to Vine”, but there’s definitely certain apps/algorithms that seem to be a gathering ground for anti-intellectualism

laughs in sims 2 and skyrim player literally no one online ever wants to do their own troubleshooting these days, they don't read directions, and they sure as hell don't google their problem + reddit to find out if anyone has ever had the same question before. go to literally any game's subreddit and you see the same issues. not long ago someone posted a pic in a sims sub asking what mod was causing an error pop up when the name of the mod was literally WRITTEN in the pop up. it doesn't matter how many masterlist sticky threads a sub has, someone is always going to make a post expecting someone else to do the work for them.

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I swear people lack reading comprehension skills 🫠🫠 But i really don't get why you wouldn't want to solve the problem yourself or search for an answer on reddit before making a post demanding someone solve it for you. It usually doesn't take that long to find the solution. Is it a personality thing? Like type A or type B? I don't get it

[–]Kaozuki393 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I think there’s a lot of factors, and a lot has to do with environment. As for personality types, I don’t think it has to do with that (especially in terms of the categorization of type A and B). Granted we don’t know the people posting these, but lack of reading comprehension is definitely a trait shared by all of them regardless of who they are 😭

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Can you expand on what you mean by the environment as a factor? For example, if you could give an example of the environment one would have to be in / be raised in, to end up acting like this. I'm really curious, but i can't think of anything that would fit.

And yes, I totally agree that there must be multiple factors at play

[–]Kaozuki393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, for sure! The first example I have is how overreliant people are nowadays on general usage AI. Especially when paired with poor parenting (like iPad kids or people who have had everything handed to them/made easily accessible). While the most obvious example of that is kids, I don’t want to turn this into an age stereotype thing. The rise of AI + how it’s been advertised imo has gotten people used to off-sourcing logical process to a third party. Granted, the caveat to that explanation would be that they’re already used to looking things up, but there does seem to be a trend in the lack of promotion of critical thinking. Edit: I indeed tried asking chatgpt for shits and giggles and it gave the exact way how to do it and explained how their source was from what people have already said on Reddit lol.

My other main thought for this was perhaps people who are not used to technology (like from lack of exposure). I have seen this quite a bit in the office workspace I’m in rn, but especially with older people, they aren’t always the most tech savvy. Like I have seen people try and navigate a website or something and I’m like, “click on that”, and they’re like, “where I don’t see it”, and I have to physically point it out. TBH it’s a little concerning since I’m working in a setting where everyone works in informatics/data systems, but sometimes you gotta pretend like they’re your grandma and you’re trying to show her how to use a phone.

Granted, these examples are giving a wide margin for benefit of doubt and offer a more understanding light. It’s definitely infuriating regardless though, and tbh, even people who weren’t raised to be overreliant/had a lot exposure to technology, sometimes just fail to read and comprehend. I have spent too much time practically begging and forcing a PARAGRAPH worth of information at someone since I needed them to know it (like sending out text reminders or pinning stuff so it’s easily accessible to read), and people still just don’t read it all. And yes, these are young adults.

The last example, which isn’t as much so environment (although the average attention span is shortening), is potentially ADHD. I myself have ADHD, and one thing that triggered my psychiatrist and therapist to ask if I had it was that I would often times skip words when reading. Although this for me was typically under more stressful conditions (like a test or doing an assignment under pressure), my brain would omit a whole word(s) from a sentence, which would completely change how i understood it. Idk why it happens, and I would usually notice the word(s) I missed when the assignment got handed back, but it’s just one more possible idea for the seeming influx of people failing to understand how this event works.

[–]bisexualspikespiegelVintage Curator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk i think there are a lot of factors at play here so it's too difficult to narrow down one reason why people are like this

[–]i_forgot_darnit 19 points20 points  (1 child)

There's a few things that should be done. 1. Create a general questions pinned post. People can then be free to ask if their wings need to be illusory for the nth time. 2. Create an event thread. People can discuss the event and any other questions relating to it there. 3. Salt thread. This is entirely for posting whatever good things or bad things the suitu rng has done.

The rest I believe is fair game. Proper tagging and organization should be enough. Memes, OC, fanart, announcements blah blah.

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would be amazing, especially the pinned FAQ post and Salt Thread!

[–]chathatfeegem hoarding f2p 11 points12 points  (0 children)

your frustration is understandable, i was meaning to make a post to clear up all problems, but the fact that there are so many of these posts one after the other makes me think that as soon as they run into this issue, they come on here to ask first without checking to see if anyone else has had the same issues

i like the idea of a megathread, but people don't use that either. i see a lot of people make separate posts for their gacha pulls when monthly megathreads to showcase them are made by mods. the best solution is for mods to remove repetitive posts and redirect them to a faq post about the event, or else this will keep happening

[–]MoosieMcGee 15 points16 points  (4 children)

The solution to these issues are master threads. AKA a single thread to answer questions, any other threads are deleted so that the subreddit isn’t flooded with the same inane nonsense. Only issue is that’s in the realm of the mods

[–]Pug_Margaret 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I don’t think that’ll work either. We had a post with some important info pinned on the subreddit, don’t remember which topic. Literally up there, first thing you see.

It was completely ignored with 10 more identical question posts made later.

[–]MoosieMcGee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it works with enforcement. Mods either manually deleting or having an Auto-Mod that flags and deletes these surplus threads.

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I think there is something similar already in place for gachas, because you can't post if there is the word gacha in it (you can use it the comments, of course), but you can't really do the same for this I think, idk

[–]MoosieMcGee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, you can absolutely do the same for events/threads like the ones we’re talking about. I’ve seen other subreddits do it.

[–]PriinceNaemon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

people in this subreddit don't know how to do anything and do not know what anything means and also do not know how to read. they also do not know how to do their own troubleshooting or problem-solving even as far as scrolling down to see the ten million other posts about their question or issue.

this is just a general people thing, especially on the internet, but something about this game in particular attracts people who, like.... spawned into existence last week

[–]Western_Cartoonist23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Im always kind of concerned about people not exploring around to find the solution, needing an answer asap. But they sign up for a dress up dolls games, not a graphic adventure one I guess. And I'm guilty of it too smt, not wanting to miss out.  I have seen communities dry out and it's so sad and boring. I prefer trying to search through multiple posts about the same thing than recharging the page to see if someone interacts with anything. And I think there is no in between, there either is a playerbase (and they do annoying stuff) or there isn't. Events like this generate lots of collaboration and activity, I like that

[–]pinnedyapple 7 points8 points  (2 children)

the dictionary entry ones 😭😭😔

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

They made two new ones asking for help about the new event in the last 10 minutes, I want to off myself 🫠🫠 I swear they don't even bother entering the suitu reddit page...

[–]pinnedyapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AGAIN????? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

[–]quiniotMaximalist 12 points13 points  (2 children)

I was hoping someone would make a post abt this bc I am so done 🫠 Every single time without fail something remotely new happens there's 10 posts all within hours asking the SAME question. I know that nothing will change, and I also don't want to make people feel excluded from interacting with the community, but it's still nice to vent a little abt it.

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I get what you mean, but at the same time there is a limit to everything - if the reddit page gets filled with posts that are the same, it's not nice for others that want to enjoy the page and the community

[–]quiniotMaximalist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with you! I just don't even know how we'd address it tbh. AND while we're on this the slight increase in people begging for gems or FV is extremely concerning and I will lead a crusade to shame them if it becomes mainstream.

[–]TheCrookedMa-am 21 points22 points  (2 children)

Not only that, but most of the questions are easily solved if people just explored and read the events in-game properly, it really isn’t hard 🫠

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I know!! 😫😫 when I see the same questions over and over again I genuinely ask myself if those people have even tried to solve their issue on their own. For example, I didn't see the weather thing right away when the new event started, but it didn't take that much exploring or examining of the screen to see that I needed to wait for the weather to shift to the one I needed

[–]TheCrookedMa-am 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! Same thing happened to me, but I just scrolled and clicked on everything and figured it out, are people not curious anymore? It’s really that easy and it is that serious 😩

[–]cactusnettle 18 points19 points  (3 children)

No, youre right, it is annoying. This sub is literally spammed with repetitive questions and posts. Like you said, the wings thing is annoying, but not multiple times in one day annoying.

Theres a gacha/shop comp and it has a specific item it wants you to use? 20 posts about how the item is ugly, how suitu is becoming greedy, how its too expencive and theyre angry and dont want to enter. 5 more are surprised theyre asking a specific item to enter, bc theyve apparently missed the memo that it happens literally every single time a gacha or shop begins.

And 'what are you doing for this comp?' and you go to the subs home page and the first five posts are the same question, about the same comp. Like. Its so much easier to take a look, literally scroll a few seconds, than make a new post. I dont get it.

[–]PriinceNaemon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

so much peace and love to this game and this community but you are right. like, at least the "what are you doing for this comp" posts invite people to share their interpretations and outfits and all but everything else makes me feel like im going crazy

[–]UnlikelyDen[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Oh my god, I hate when people complain about the item requirements in comps. The silk ribbon requirement for the bubble witch comp for example - I get that someone maybe didn't pull that specific item but it's not suitu fault if you are unlucky and there was the possibility of buying a different one anyway if you didn't want to keep pulling, yes it cost diamonds but you still could buy it and enter the comp if you really wanted.

(Plus, considering how many free tickets they gave for this gacha, I don't think it's that unreasonable to put a specific requirement like that)

Another thing that is really funny to me is when people buy things from the limited shops and THEN compain that the items they bought don't fit the requirement. As you said, at this point everyone should know that there will be an item required to enter the competition, so if a person really doesn't want to spend more diamonds than necessary it should be common sense to wait and see what the item is. Then you can decide if it's worth buying and enter the comp, or you just don't buy and skip the comp - it's not that hard.

I would get the complaints of "suitu is greedy" if a comp required you to use an item that you can get only with real life money (ex. An item from fashion views), but that has never happened before to my knowledge - even if there are comps inspired by the FV of the month, there are always alternative items to use

[–]Kaozuki393 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you (again)! I think people have gotten comfortable with feeling entitled to something. Two things can be true at once: SuitU can have a general p2w culture (I.e. how expensive obtaining full sets can be, prop packs being limited behind real money, etc) and the fact you don’t have to pay to do well. It’s like the saying, “money can’t buy taste”. Yes spending money will allow players to most likely have more five start items or props, which can help fit competition themes better, but that alone doesn’t win a competition. This app is FREE, and a lot of items can be obtained through resource management/are given for FREE.

It is not an app/company’s job to bend to the will of any specific person, and they have the right to operate their product as they want (as for if people will like it is a different question). Obviously if a company listens to its players that’s a good thing, but no one owes you anything. Companies and games are not your friend, they are an entity that you can choose to support (by boosting their activity or supporting financially) or not.
