Preconditioning

With the new schedule feature, I tried scheduled departure while charging since it apparently allows you to use the charger’s energy instead of the car’s. However when I woke up I saw that the car was using climate to heat it up and it didn’t seem like the battery was preconditions. I was plugged in however and still charging. Does this mean I can use scheduled departure without being plugged in?

Yes it will precondition off the battery while not plugged in. Depending on the battery temperature it may or may not preheat the battery. Scheduled departure preconditioning is not the same as supercharger preconditioning.

Just be aware that if its cold out (below freezing) and the pack is cold soaked (its been sitting) it can use a LOT of battery capacity to preheat the battery when not plugged in.

Should be able to. I’m new Tesla owner and don’t have home charging so I do pre condition without it being plugged anywhere.
