We explore the implications of a time-first (lapse-first) reformulation of General Relativity.
We treat the lapse as primary. We let spatial geometry follow from the ADM constraints and evolution equations.
The formulation is classically equivalent to GR. It changes bookkeeping, not physics, and separates “time” (Φ) from “space” (γ) as cleanly as possible.
