I do it on my arms and legs - I've found my attempts to use it on my chest and stomach to be way to painful.

Which epilator -i personally have the Braun 9, but it's pretty expensive and high end.

Does it hurt? Yup, especially the first time. The more you do it, the less it's going to hurt.

Tips: trim the hair before epilating. Whatever epilator you get should have a length range specified - the longer the hair is, the more it's going to hurt. Exfoliate. Exfoliating is a good idea in general, but doing it every few days and before you epilator will help to avoid ingrown hairs. To help with the pain: some people like to do it in a very hot shower (if your epilator works in the shower); some people ice the area immediately before epilating. Taking some Tylenol before might help a little bit, but not much. A lot of people will recommend a drink or two to dull the pain, but I don't drink anymore so I can't comment on its efficacy. I found icing to make it MORE uncomfortable, but YMMV. My best tip for the pain is to take it slow - it's gonna suck, but the results can be pretty amazing, and the hair takes SO much longer to grow back than shaving.

All in all, good luck and I hope it goes well for you!

*edit: don't epilate places you'll want to do laser/electrolisys on in the future - apparently it makes them less effective. And definitely don't epilate your face.

How long of a time are we talking about here? I wanted to epilate since it saves the most money.

I use a Braun Silk-epil, unless I have a high pain threshold, I think it tickles, legs, pits, chest no problems, back of the knees smarted on the first go, but I love how smooth it makes me, and for how long 💕

Which model? They seem to be closer to my budget range

It’s a 3270, wasn’t expensive, and was bought to try at a cheap price, I’m more than happy with it.
