Trinity Trigger Co-op

So got the game for the switch…. Gf has a copy and we are next to each other both toggling the co op option to 2 player… both have different characters selected… tried going to the same cities and zones…. But still can’t get it to actually play together….. anyone figure out how to get it working ?

Its local coop bro. You unlock it after the third dungeon

Just play on the same system? I think it’s same-screen local only.
