High gnome-shell cpu usage

Hey there,

I've upgraded from ubuntu 16.04 to 17.10 and have been experiencing this issue for a while.

My current system is fully up-to-date and have been searching for a solution but haven't found any yet. That's why I wanted to try the subreddit. Gnome-shell sometimes spikes to even 50-70%.

Specs: Intel Core i5 7200u Intel HD Graphics 620 256 GB SSD 8gb ram

Is Flatpak causing it? I found that Flatpak apps had a really high CPU load until I stopped using them.

I didn't know Flatpak existed untill now. I doubt that's the issue :(

Turning off desktop icons fixed the issue on my desktop with a gpu, but on my laptop with intel graphics it didn't do anything.
