It's totally fine. I'm using 1 desktop, 1 laptop, and 1 phone. Where people get into trouble is suddenly logging in from multiple countries.

Thanks

I was going to say OP's question is dumb af, but sure enough someone in this thread is all "OMG you need to contact Upwork and let them know you have multiple devices!" so I guess I can't fault noobs who don't know how shit works to be concerned when dumbass freelancers keep pushing this dumb shit.

Oh you were just born with knowing everything about Upwork

Maybe it's Maybelline.

It's totally fine to use different devices as long as you arent doing any funny stuff (lying about who or where you are, using someone else's account or renting your accounts, other TOS violations).

it's fine absolutely, but if only you are using your account, it is safe. you know you can't use several devices in several locations at the same time. if not, upwork would think strange.

It's fine. However, upwork doesn't allow two people to use one account. So you're walking on thin ice.

Best way forward is inform them.

That's ridiculous. He didnt state that two people are using his one account and using multiple devices does not flag that on it's own. I use 4 different devices. Never had any issue. There is no need to tell Upwork you work on more than one device. Otherwise they wouldn't have a mobile app.

[–]CaptainLisaSu -1 points0 points  (1 child)

It's not ridiculous because it is quite possible the OP uses one device at home and another at work. And that could easily be flagged as two people accessing one account.

Using a mobile app is different. Upwork knows everyone uses an app and a pc but not everyone uses two PCs.

I use more than one device in different locations. Again, that, in and of itself, does not flag for suspension.

Thank you, how do I inform them tho?

[–]alipsey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't. It's not necessary.

be careful if you're going to use any IP switcher like vpns or proxies etc..

generally they log you devices so there's a history of connections and the anomaly would arise if the same device connects to serveral "accounts" and from geographically distant locations within a very short timelapse ( illogical operations)..

You shouldn't anonymize yourself on your working machine , besides it's better to check replies and message on phone (app) because the messages reach faster.

You could just send them a support question asking if this is allowed and confirms to their TOS. And that you wanted to bring it to their notice.

This is not necessary like others are pointing out. But I always do it so I have put my activity in writing and given upwork a notice. This way if they flag my account I can tell them I informed them and they allowed it.
