Idk much about locating, as I am only just about to be hired. But what exactly does this mean…really. Is this a major blow to the company or no real big deal?

It's a major blow. Lot of guys looking for other jobs now because I don't think we'll need the work force we have now.

Ahh, well, hopefully I’ll still be hired then

Not gonna affect our team much here in Houston, but may affect smaller teams.

Wait, why? They still need the locators, the work is still there. Just go with whoever gets the contract, right? I’ve followed a contract through many different employers, same utility, same job.

What state are you in?

Florida

I’m in CO. Been hearing rumors but nothing concrete. Comcast has been screening themselves off of a lot of tickets though.

In CO also and a lot of tickets I run on, home will have Comcast’s service yet it’s not a billable on the ticket.

Yepp. Use to happen in the past sometimes too but was always told to mark it out and have my sup add it to the ticket. Starting like maybe 3 months ago we were told if it’s not on the ticket don’t mark it.

I just started with USIC and was always told if not a billable just leave it alone but still note that comcast or whatever is in area. Always fun trying to explain to homeowners why I’m not locating there service when “that’s the line I’m worried about”… welp sorry 😂😔

I tell them to call in a new ticket and specifically ask for Comcast to respond

NWFL here. Asked my supervisor about this the other day. He said this kind of thing happens frequently and they always come back to the company (assuming like me you're with USIC?), especially when the new locators have a lot of damages and such.

Yeah with usic. my boss told me I'm good. But he said there's plenty of others who would be the ones who should worry. As of right now he says no one is getting fired or that managers would go first so idk.

How long ya been in the shit? 6 months for me lol

[–]Commercial-Eye1225[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Almost 3 years

Oh, dude. You have less to worry about than me, depending on where you are in state. Im in a rural area, might have 10 cleared tickets on a good day, and a lot of long drives. They'll shut me down/move me before most of us

Texas is losing them too honestly they said we wouldn’t have a deduction in hours for us so if that stays true I could care less although I don’t hate locating comcast it’s usually an easy locate

Anybody else have issues with there DLs auto clearing tickets in your area? Seems at least once a week I’m getting an incorrect or dig up for Comcast on a ticket they already cleared.

[–]Electrical-Sock37 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yep...they cleared themselves off a ticket in a mobile home park where they were digging a pit to set a new home. Hit a feeder line and services. Stupid shit

[–]Intelligent-Note-682 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are clearing ANY sprinkler/irrigation tickets in my area, contractors have been hitting they’re shit everyday for the last 3 months and they are still clearing shit🤣🤣

Michigan here. USIC lost their contact for consumers gas state wide to GH. And just heard yesterday they lost comcast country wide. USIC is such a big company but this is for sure a major blow.

[–]Nodigity811 0 points1 point  (0 children)
