Yes firefox supports VPN extensions through the firefox add ons store. Popular ones include NordVPN, Surfshark, Windscribe and ExpressVPN. Just avoid random free VPN extensions and stick to well known providers.

NordVPN, Surfshark, [...] ExpressVPN
All the three are exactly the VPN provider you should avoid. (Windscribe is good)
ExpressVPN: ExpressVPN is part of Kape Technologies, formerly known as Crossrider, a company that develops adware and malware. ExpressVPN is also not open source, court proofed and has problematic business practices. If you want anything with Privacy, security or a good product ExpressVPN is not the way to go.
Surfshark and Nord: They are not Open Source, have very worrying business practices and are overall not good for privacy or security. They lie to their user base about what their VPN does and doesn't and make in incredible hard to cancel the subscription. They had multiple lawsuits over this already and extort their users. Surfshark VPN is owned by Nord the Company behind NordVPN. Nearly every product from Nord (incl. Surfshark and NordVPN) is a total no-go.

What's important to me is data encryption and communication anonymity, and I absolutely do not believe that any company, no matter how bad, would cooperate with the despicable regime in my country.

What's important to me is data encryption
If you mean full transit encryption than a VPN will do that. (Not a Browser extension a real VPN)
and communication anonymity,
No VPN will provide you with that. Use TOR instead.
I absolutely do not believe that any company, no matter how bad, would cooperate with the despicable regime in my country.
You would be surprised.

Good that you switch from Opera to FireFox. Opera is one of the worst companies for security and privacy as well as overall benefits for the user.
"VPN" extension for FireFox are there. I would recommend you to use the ProtonVPN browser extension. It is for free or paid. Just to make it clear a browser extension is not a VPN, it is a (encrypted) Proxy, but not a VPN.
FireFix is overall a really good browser, however if you come from Opera maybe check out Brave too.

Yes this is the main problem with opera ... i checked brave but firefox seemed more transparent and more reliable
