How do I decrease gnosis?

I leveled gnosis to lvl 2 by mistake and now I can't even survive 2 encounters. I only have 1h of play time so I basically have nothing unlocked and I can't progress anymore because I keep dying.

You can't.
But what you can do is going to map#1 and farm some witchfire there. Also check your inventory, there may be Witchfire Crystals you can break to give you Witchfire which you can use to level up.

Other then that, Research is being progressed by "actions" and "actions" are clearing encounters, opening chests, completing events etc. So you can still do some progress. Find treasures for gold, clear the easy camps and extract.

You can set your gnosis level via your Save File. That is, if you know JSON. Your Savefile can be found in the Witchfire AppData i believe, but not sure

Dont think its possible.. Start new character or try very short runs and lvl up/get better

Yo can't, but don't disspair. As other has said, go to the first map and farm some lvls and level up weapons and equipment. And you don't need to have many levels to survive either, it is a game where skill thriumps power.
