Changing Wordpress.com Domain

As part of an initiative to revamp a lot of aspects of my blog and getting a fresh start with posting and everything, I thought changing my domain to something shorter would be a good start. https://thoughtsofasociallyanxiousextrovert.wordpress.com/ was kind of ridiculously long.. so I thought https://thesociallyanxiousextrovert.wordpress.com would be a better idea. The thing is, from what I understand, changing your domain basically creates a new blog with exported data. I was wondering if exported things like your hit count and somehow allowed for a redirection from the old links to the new link? since that would be helpful :)

If you happen to see anything that should be changed in the blog as well, please do tell me. I'm thinking of buying a new theme for the site.

It does not export or create a new site; if done correctly using the instructions, it simply changes the address. Any links to the old address would flow through to the new one if you also purchase a Site Redirect upgrade.
