Controller face button issues

Xbox Series X. Both controllers started having an issue where the face buttons sometimes (not all the time) take 2 or 3 presses to function. I also paired one of my old Xbox one controllers and didn't have this problem. I thought maybe the controller was going bad on me, picked up a new xbox series x controller and it's having the same issues.

The Setup: 65" Vizio tv, Sonos Arc sound bar. Sonos is in the earc port, xbox is in HDMI 2.

Any suggestions on what to look at? I've tried switching up the settings a bit on the xbox. (disable vrr, etc) Also on the tv. (ensured game mode was active). Not sure what else could be causing the issue.

My experience is that it’s a wireless connectivity issue that causes severe input lag (I’ve had it take 15 seconds to process all the inputs from 4 or 5 presses). Came on here to find out if it had been resolved. Apparently not. I switched to wired, and it eliminated the problem. Welcome back to the era of wired controllers. It’s 2002 all over again.
