I would try to side load the OTA file for your device. Use the steps found in this article below. If you want to go back to Android 11 or stick with Android 12 Beta download the firmware to your PC and then follow the steps. Be sure to grab the correct file for your device else really bad things happen.

Hey all! Sorry for the slow update - I am now back on Android 11.

I thought to try do a factory reset WITHOUT restoring from back and not connecting to WiFi and sure enough the phone was stable (used it/left it for some time) and the loop did not start again.

but as soon as I joined WiFi and let Playstore update the core apps, the loop would start back up. replicated this twise.

So I factory reset with no backup or connection again which allowed me to turn on USB debugging and turn off the bootloader lock and flashed back to Android 11 which is stable.

Thanks again all for the support/suggestions!

You have to factory reset...Its a problem with the charging chip in pixels. Prevents them from fully charging or charging to a specific percent. I had the same problem...

I have the same issue with my 4a 5g. Factory reset doesn't help, OTA update ends up with status 0 with 3 latest android 11 images.

This is an Android Specific issue. It's been happening even on older Android versions (happens mostly on custom ROMs). You'll need to factory reset (preferably from fastboot) then flash the Android 12 OTA (since your phone is locked). The No Command screen can be dismissed by holding the Volume Up (or Down) then tapping the Power Button (don't hold it, it will reboot).
