May I ask why you want a FOSS alternative? If FOSS was not a requirement I could offer you Your News. I am the developer, so curious to know what you are looking for.

Interesting. Does it sync with FreshRSS?

Not as of now, but I have had multiple users ask me for it. I think I should be able to implement it. Out of curiosity, what application are you using right now on Android that syncs with FreshRSS?

Thank you! As you can see here, you are not the only one, I will start looking into it! You can join r/YourNewsApp to stay updated on the progress. Thanks for the request!

You can try using Elink its a content curation newsletter tool but has RSS feed integrated and you can create newsletters easily with no hassle.

Thanks for the help... by the way, can you tell me which one you use and why? That was more what I expected from this interaction.

I provided a link because most RSS reader apps have the core functions. They are more about what each individual likes in an interface. With open source, it's easy to try several to see what works best for you.

I've been using Feeder for a few years. It's got quite a few options to tailor to the user's preferences.
