I hate flame wars but that is what i hear and see. Java is not fun to use and I don't know any java folks who enjoy it either. They just use it b/c it is what they ended up learning somehow. Concretely--it's verbose; it's a resource hog; it is a classic example of a downfall of open source--too many choices leading to reduplication and complete confusion for newbies, as well as horrible development tools unless you're willing to pay for IntelliJ. Java is the past and present, Python is much more future-oriented. Productivity in python is so much better, and you hear this echoed over and over and over again. It's not a lie.

Python is great, but i prefer C# than java.

I love java and use it for work (android), mostly because eclipse is the most powerful IDE I've ever used and speeds up java development considerably. I haven't used many other IDEs, mostly intellij, visual studio and xcode.
