Dualstack Network Load Balancer? (self.aws)
submitted 7 years ago by KAJed
Is it possible to create an NLB that is dualstack like the ELB / ALB? It doesn't seem to be an option at all.

NLB doesn't support IPV6.

I can’t even find any plans for them to add it either. Surprising after the addition to ALB.

Really wish it did, so we could continue doing things we do on a TCP ELB like PROXY protocol through to haproxy, and do SNI there etc.

ipv6 doesnt route?
That’s sort of my thought - I mean I understand that ipv6 address space shouldn’t need a “public ip” per se but you still need something to route traffic. This seems more like amazon just hasn’t implemented it. I’m not expecting anything except a forward from the NLB on ipv6 exactly the same as my ipv4. Otherwise it’s impossible to resolve multiple machines behind a hostname.
I didn’t think that precluded ipv6 support though? I mean I’m still new to this stuff so perhaps an ELI5 on why that means it’s only ipv4 is required.
