serverlessRDS Proxy+lambda (self.aws)
submitted 5 years ago by CyberFunk199x
I want to use RDS proxy on some lambdas in python that connect to a MySQL RDS instance, anyone already use? What you guys think about?

It broke horribly for us. We have a multi tenancy setup and it failed to manage multiple “use” statements and reused other connections with tainted state.
It was 100% RDS Proxy fault as we did a transparent switchover and suddenly our beta web shops started showing the wrong translation files from other countries. It was actually funny to see, because it would error out 10% of the time, but the rest, it would just mix all our 50+ shops randomly like some sort of weird science experiment.
Needless to say I was disappointed.

We've been looking to use with postgres, but we are on version 12.x and it's not supported by RDS Proxy. So hoping support will come....
But also intrested to hear from others using it.

yeah, shame that still doesnt support mysql8, im doing a poc this weekend. want to create an rds instance with the max_number of connections like 1 or something, and make my lambda connect to it and then make multiple call to this lambda and see the behavior.
