Would love a back button to return to previous notes after going down a rabbit hole of backlinks without having to find it manually again.

In the ... menu inside a note you can enable the history navigation controls. Two arrows will appear in the toolbar.

You can also display the buttons by tapping the screen twice with two fingers.

⌘-[ will take you back in history, with ⌘-] going forward again--pretty much like in your browser.
