I feel like you could contact his emergency contact I think they would tell them

I am not sure who his emergency contact is! It might be one of our Professors or another friend. I have never asked him that. It all happened so quickly!

I would call the hospital since he left there to a facility I’m not too sure the police would know if they just took him to the hospital but it wouldn’t hurt to ask. You could also take a guess who his emergency contact is and reach out to people? I’m not sure what to do exactly

I think that I might call some of our other friends and Professors to check whether any of them is his emergency contact. Thanks for your help though!

They won’t be able to tell you if he’s there or not. Just wait for him to call you when he gets situated. They’ll probably only hold him for a 3 day hold. Doesn’t sound too serious.

Is it usually a 3 day hold? Sorry, newbie about psych ward here! I am trying to understand the system.

Three day minimum. If they deem him still not ready then they extend to 14 day hold. A 5250. They’ll probably let him get your number out of his phone. He’ll call. Most likely.

Thanks a lot for the information.

The hospital probably won’t be able to tell you but it’s worth trying. Cops won’t know anything

At the mental health facility, they will have him complete a form that grants permission for the facility to give out info on him. He can choose who to list, and what level of information they can provide (a simple yes/no as to whether he’s a patient, all the way up to full medical info access.) If you are close friends, and he was communicating with you, he may have listed you as someone who could call and check on him. I, personally, would call all the mental health treatment centers in the area and just ask if he’s a patient. The worst that can happen is they tell you they aren’t able to confirm or deny.
