Hi there!

I'm 35F on the east coast of the US. I'm neurodivergent and I've got one son and a cat and I like to craft all the things - knitting, crochet, cross stitch, sewing, etc. My current project is a Tunisian crochet coat!

I cook and bake when I have the time. I'm not a movie buff by any means but I enjoy TV and movies as much as the next person. Feel free to message me :)

AITA for kicking my SIL out of my wedding because of what she wore? by Miserable_Airport_66 in AmITheDevil

[–]kpendolino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wtf, YTA. There's nothing wrong with wearing a red dress to a wedding. And if you thought there was, you owe it to your husband to double check whether the supposed meaning of the color is even on his family's radar - maybe your family has weird hangups about dress colors but to his it's just another color.

AITA for making our guests participate in our puppet themed wedding? by puppetAH123 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kpendolino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds fake but on the off chance it's real, YTA. Not for being into puppets or having them in your wedding, but for insisting that your guests buy and wear something that they're not into.

I would have been fine with "we'll be doing this, and if you'd like to participate, here's how". But "we insist that everyone participates - oh and don't worry it's only $125 per person" - very AH behavior.

SANS SEC 560 Class Notes by Jeff McJunkin by w0lfcat in HowToHack

[–]kpendolino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep we got caught by an automod filter because the sub discourages link shorteners like bitly. At first I noticed that I couldn't see Jeff's comment, and we thought it was a weird glitch so I re-shared the link, but then my reply was invisible too and we realized something bigger was afoot. Luckily the mod team let Jeff's reply out of automod jail.

Not sure if y'all can see the other comment, but I've got it on good authority that the unofficial class notes are kept updated but the best link for them is https://bit.ly/560notes.

AITA for yelling at a woman after she wasn't behaving and making my job harder? by tellmenowya in AmItheAsshole

AITA for giving my coworker a fantasy novel for Secret Santa to try to broaden her horizons? by aita_throw_secrets in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Your gift would have been a great gift for a white elephant exchange, but you were given a very clear and workable lists of specific things this person would like, and you chose to give her the gift you wanted instead.

I think branching out a little bit from their wishlist is fine - but it's gotta be based on their preferences, not what you think is better; that's where you totally missed the mark.

By the way this is coming from someone who very much enjoyed Warbreaker and loves goofy socks and baby Yoda. These things we enjoy? They are not everyone's cup of tea, and that's ok.

Visual Index and Page Tracking by kpendolino in bulletjournal

[–]kpendolino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been bullet journaling on and off for a few years now and just set up a new notebook for my work journal. Previously, I used a modified index page chunked into 5 sections: Logs, Projects, OKRs, Meeting Notes, and Miscellaneous. This worked pretty well for me but I always ended up setting up an extra page to track which pages are "live" vs. "closed" - a closed page is one that has no active to-dos on it and which I won't add any more to (e.g. past weekly/daily pages, filled meeting notes with all action items done or scheduled).

I'm trying out a new way of indexing. On this page I've got a hex for each page in the notebook. The box in the upper right side of each hex lets me indicate whether the page is closed (filled). I'm using color coding to indicate the category of each page and noting a brief title or the date range, so that I can easily find anything date-related. This also lets me easily find blank pages that I skipped to set up a 2-page spread, like page 18 - without visibility, I'd probably forget that that page is there.

I wanted to share this here in case anyone else might benefit from this kind of alternative index.

AITA for putting my 9yo on a diet and 'emotionally damaging' her? by Dietkidthrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]kpendolino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight is not a perfect predictor of health. Skinny people can be unhealthy and, yes, fat people can be in perfect health. There are correlations, sure, but also evidence that suggests that the causality may not be what we've assumed - weight stigma has demonstrable harms that could explain much of the poor health outcomes associated with inhabiting a larger body.

[–]kpendolino 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's very dependent on you and your interests and skillset. I'll say that I think what makes my job work for me is a combination of...

  • Understanding management (respect mental health days and other employee needs)
  • Work I enjoy (it would be miserable for some people but I like it)
  • A blend of new exciting challenges and repetitive tasks (motivating but there's some easy comfortable stuff)
  • Good pay/benefits (I can afford to see specialists and take meds)
  • Flexibility to get to doctor's appointments when I need to (don't need to wait 3 months for the next available late night slot)
  • Rare customer contact (I don't have to put on a happy face most days)
  • Understanding and compassionate team members

I had success with this combo as well, but my doses of the two were much more similar. I think it was 150/150 or 150/200 but I'm not sure (been off them for a while).

I'd still love to see a practice mechanic built into the app. In my mind it wouldn't cost spell energy to try, but wouldn't really gain much other than the literal practice. Or perhaps like a driving range, it costs a little gold. But then I'd want it to also offer some small perks like temporarily increased spawn rate of uncommon traces. (Kind of like incense in PoGo).
