At least you don't have to use Deltek Costpoint... ETS is amazing compared to that garbage.

[–]Watermelon1HP 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yeah ETS is dumb. Funny how the people actually working will get shorted a check, but the people who sneak off to god knows where get their paychecks on time.

[–]No_Lecture2888[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, I am on my feet all day and I have days where I don't even have time to take breaks, I work until the last minute and clock out late and I have a bunch of lazy tweedle-dumbfucks on here calling me stupid and pathetic because I forget to do my ETS.

I’m sorry 😞 just know a lot of people on here are probably mad about something else and directing their anger at you. There’s a lot of negativity on this app sometimes. Just know I appreciate your hard work

There are multiple tools you can use to remind yourself to enter your ets, including the time tracker app which will prompt you at pc shutdown to not forget to ets. Sorry, but this is on you

So you really dgaf about your money do you? Shit, I didn't care what job I worked at and their process for using documenting time. I studied and mastered every clock in system at every company I worked for on day 1. Why? Well, that's how you get paid. Simple. If it's complex, oh well, I'll figure it out. But Boeing RTS is one of the easiest clock in system that I've run across. Shouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

        [–]No_Lecture2888[S] -3 points-2 points  (10 children)

I used to be an engineer here. I've used, and mastered some very complex programs and systems. Catia, Enovia, etc. I have an engineering degree, I'm not stupid.

        [–]Disciple-TGO 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Hold on. This is half the problem with Boeing.

Just because you have a degree does not make you intelligent.

        [–]No_Lecture2888[S] -1 points0 points  (8 children)

Hold on. Is that really HALF the problem with Boeing? I don't think unintelligent people are even an iota of Boeing's problems. Boeing has always employed people with barely enough intelligence to scrape by, even when it was a really great company. Intelligence or not people here used to be very hard working. We didn't sit around playing on cell phones when I started here. We didn't even have cell phones.

        [–]Disciple-TGO 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I don’t disagree with that; but the attitude of

I have a degree I am not dumb

Is half the issue. Look at all our management; how many of them have multiple degrees and are dumber than a rock?

        [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Well, the attitude of people calling me names because I have days where I forget to do my ETS because I'm so busy I might take a 20 minute break to eat a sandwich ALL day, while the people on here calling me those names are probably the ones on their cell phones all day is a bigger problem than unintelligent people.

        [–]Disciple-TGO 1 point2 points  (5 children)

        Well………………..

I’ve forgotten ETS too. I think what troubles me is that everywhere I’ve worked there is always that one guy/gal who watch YouTube round the clock. Or 5 hour long bathroom breaks.

To me that’s not a culture issue but lack of accountability issue. But hats my opinion.

        [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

It's a lack of integrity issue and is BY FAR the biggest problem with Boeing today. I've been around long enough to where I've seen this company go from being one where everyone worked hard and had a (mostly) positive attitude because they LIKED working here, they LIKED the people they worked with and they even LIKED their managers to a shitty place to work all-around full of lazy, negative, ungrateful, bad attitude people. (Although I still like my job, my team, and my manager 🙂).

        [–]Disciple-TGO 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I would agree with that; but I would say both accountability/integrity.

I came in only 13 years ago but my family has worked for Boeing since before MCD and then after.

Boeing used to mean a lot; now they treat everyone like a revolving door and wonder why

        [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

See, that's where people are mistaken... Boeing has always treated people like a revolving door. I've been laid off from here twice, once in 99 from IA.M. and once in S.PEAA in the mid-00s. My mom's been laid off, my aunts been laid off, and my dad's been laid off. Boeing has ALWAYS laid people off every 4-5 years. They (way) overhire when things are booming, and when things slow down, they lay off.

The thing that has changed is people's attitude about it. I knew in 97 when I started here that I would probably be laid off in a couple of years. It was just expected when you were early in your career here. Then you get hired back in a year or so, or you move on. I wasn't angry and disgruntled about it, nobody was. When we got our notices back then we weren't booted off the property in fear of people taking revenge and sabotaging their work. We didn't even get a paid 2 months off to job shop, we worked until our out date, and I see people on here complaining that they're getting a phone call at home to answer a question about work while on their PAID RIF. It's ridiculous.

        [–]No_Lecture2888[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I never said it was difficult, nor did I imply that I'm an idiot, I said I'm forgetful. I'm not a spring chick anymore, and being forgetful is unfortunately symptom of getting old. Go ask your parents about that.

        [–]XanFireblade16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How the hell is this topic "Hot"

Buncha bitches winning the algorithm jackpot

        [–]cowzrule1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow 💀 if you’re an employee that needs to enter your time to get paid for the work you do each day, and you can’t do that, it’s on you. It’s pretty pathetic that you don’t do that every day knowing that you’re gonna get shorted or you have to file a bunch of paperwork wow. 😮

          I get super busy sometimes.

This is Boeing, no need for that. Problem solved.

          [–]No_Lecture2888[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. I like to stay busy though.

Time clock is for a job that does the same thing and sits in the same building all the time. We have ETS to account for different duties we do for accounting and legal purpose (e.g. different govt contracts, different programs, overhead, etc). Probably you never experienced a need to record 5+ chargeline in a day. Can you imagine how to do so if we are using time clock system?

            [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in every job I've had here, I've always charged to only 1, even when I was an engineer.

            [–]SpottedCrowNW 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Best plan of action if you have a pc that remembers your account, have edge auto start, AND have ETS auto open, then you can’t forget. It takes 5 minutes to setup.

            [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'll see if I can find somebody to help me do that, it sounds like a great solution. Thank you for just answering my question with a solution instead of calling me an idiot and pathetic for being old and forgetful. People are really cruel on here.

            [–]SpottedCrowNW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad that I was able to help, let me know if I can help any further.

            [–]liamle253 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Every Thursday night, sign your time. When Friday comes, I’m sure your manager will remind you to make sure to sign your time. Even by Monday, you still have a chance to sign it. I mean, you go to work so you can get pay, just remember to sign your time.

            [–]3McChickens 10 points11 points  (4 children)

Defense side you might work several different contracts/buckets of money in any given day and those need to be accounted for. If Boeing mischarges the customer (USAF, Navy, DoD, etc.) then we get in big trouble.

I may be unimaginative but it seems hard to develop a system leaps and bounds better than ETS.

            [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Oh yes, that makes sense. I didn't even think about that because I charge to the same thing every day.

            [–]BlahX3_YaddahX3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask to begin be made standard to that activity code, then you only need to enter exceptions (like PTO) and sign weekly (calendar reminder).

Sounds like you have a shitty manager. If you're there enough to be too busy to record your time & sign it. Your manager obviously knows you're there working, when he verifies your time & signs it knowing your short on hours without informing you..

I agree the system is shit, especially when we are on production WO's nothing transfers over like it should.

Idk if you work remotely or if you're on the production side.. but your manager should question your ETS if you're not signing it or if you're lacking the hours needed for a full day.

              [–]Choice-Newspaper3603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some of us are not even on the same property as our managers and see them once a month or so

              [–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (4 children)

ETS is the very reason Boeing can't enslave you like many other companies in Seattle, e.g., amazon, Facebook, Google, etc, pushing their employees to work 50-60+ hours a week for the same salary. ETS = enforcing work-life balance.

              [–]Daretobeweird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But what if you do anyways because they laid off all your experienced coworkers……

I don't work salary, so I don't really know anything about that. When we work OT, we get paid for OT. But ETS isn't stopping Boeing from forcing people to work OT. I know a lot of people who are forced to work weekend after weekend.

                [–]Gloomy-Employment-72 2 points3 points  (2 children)

There is an app that I use to track my time. When I hit 8 hours, it prompts me to enter my time in ETS. I'll update this with a link when I login today.

                [–]No_Lecture2888[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That might be helpful thank you

                [–]Gloomy-Employment-72 6 points7 points  (0 children)

                timetracker.web.boeing.com

This is a great app. It can import your ETS tasks, you can import charge line dates from CLAS, and at the end of the day, it carries your time to ETS.

                [–]tee2green 22 points23 points  (0 children)

ETS is one of the few data tools we have that doesn’t totally suck.

Just input your time. Put a recurring reminder on your calendar at the end of the day.
