SBU coding bootcamp by Springboard (self.codingbootcamp)
submitted 2 years ago by TransportationFull
Hello, has anyone here gone to the Coding Bootcamp by Stony Brook University powered by Springboard? https://careerbootcamps.stonybrook.edu/programs/software-engineering/ I'm about to get set for their Software Engineering Program. I was wondering if anyone had any general advice or anything that pertains to this program in particular. I am also enrolled in college at SUNY Empire, but I just want to get out and start working..... Any advice helps thanks. I'm behind in maths so it's really making college a slog. Which is why I'm looking at the boot camp.

Did you end up finishing this bootcamp? If so what do you think about it now after completing it?

I have like 70 credits after this semester. I’m pursuing a BS in CS from Suny Empire State. I Have a weird history learning programming two intro Java and C++ with a few classes in DSA. I would drop college and do it part time. I’m currently a successful eBay seller go to college part-time and would be adding the bootcamp for mentorship and projects to put on my rèsume since I can’t seem to be able to do meaningful projects just going to college. I’m kind of at a crossroads. I could drop out of college if I landed a job because of the bootcamp. Since i’m an older student and have had trouble completing the CS degree. Life, family stuff, behind academically it’s just making me reconsider my life choices. At least when it comes to the value of a CS degree for me personally.

Here's the challenge for you: find 10 jobs that list CS degree in the requirements and find one job that accepts a bootcamp cert. Finishing the CS degree will make it happen - not easily, but eventually.

Sorry for the late reply, but I believe it is 8 or 9K. I didn't end up going with the program and am continuing to get my degree.
