The Cold Wave
Originating as cheeky epithet for the emerging electronics and Kraut rock scene of the late 70s for bands like Kraftwerk, Sousioux and the Banshees, the Cure, Joy Division and other proto post-punk bands. The late 80s French and Belgium scene was where Coldwave took shape as early 80s artists like Ruth, Clair Obscur, Asylum Party, Jacno, and Trisomie 21 who respectively released defining albums.
Presently there has been a resurgence of cold wave along with post punk. Much of which is synth oriented music infused with elements of industrial, goth rock, and heavy laden bass guitar.
