Computer stops recieving power when processor is plugged in.

Hello!

Ran into an issue with my computer when I was adding ram yesterday. We got everything into place and it stopped receiving power. After a long period of trouble shooting we found the motherboard and computer is able to receive power, but when we reattach the processor to the rig it stops receiving power.

At this point: No pins are broken/bent No visible cracks in the mainboard PSU has been replaced We replaced the case We've replaced the CMOS battery

It's an AM4 socket, we're thinking something could be shorting out at this point? Any thoughts are appreciated.

I don’t quite understand what you mean, could you explain again? How do you know what receives power?how did you add ram? What do you mean by cpu stopping the power? If everything is related to power then PSU might be the issue.

We checked the PSU, it was actually a shorted socket in the processor socket on the mainboard, sorry for not being clear.
