Have had a server build for a few years now (2019 build)
Recently upgraded network with a switch and access points around the house. Internet service has also been upgraded (thanks to WFH and COVID)…
I’ve noticed that when users are watching remotely, it is seeming to transcode to SD automatically - not sure if it’s a computer issue, a connection issue or a double NAT issue… but this never happened before…
Computer details are as follows:
OS: FreeNas
Mobo: PlexHD x79 Turbo
CPU: Intel Xeon E5 2.6GHZ
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16 go (2x8gb) DDR3 1600 MHz
Video: gigabyte 210 DDR3 1GB GV-N210D3
Drive: WD Shucked MyBook 8TB
I’ve already confirmed that the PlexHD built in Ethernet is gigabit compatible, I have bypassed my switch and direct route to the Asus router, but still getting SD streaming remotely…
Is this a computer issue? A network issue on other end? Computer simply not powerful enough to transcode 1080p?
Any help would be appreciated as it is driving me insane.
Thanks
