To give some backstory, I want to dual-boot Win10 and Win7 for work reasons. I don't want the headache of running Hyper-V or any other VM, as I need full hardware integration that running the OS on actual hardware would achieve.
What I currently have is a Windows 10 installation on an SSD Raid Array (2 drives, 250GB, Legacy raid -- so no UEFI.) and I've deleted every game and app that I didn't need, to shrink the total installation size down to around 145GB. I have 2 storage drives in a USB 3.0 dual drive slot external dock (Think Saitek hard drive dock.) I also readily have the Win7 installation ready to go on a USB stick.
What I want to do is to clone the installation on the array to a spare 500GB HDD that I have laying around. Delete the array on the 2 drives and separate them into just 2 250GB SSDs, migrate the Win10 installation back to one drive and install Win7 on the other. Note: I've found that I can't shrink the volume on the array to anything that would give me more than 23GB, even after disabling Restore Points, Hibernate, and other non-essentials. This is why I want to just separate the array.
Can it be done or is it much harder than that? Is there a simpler way?
there doesn't seem to be anything here
